President Giovanni Mummolo Keynote Speaker at the XXXI AIDI “Francesco Turco” Summer School, Lecco

The Foundation European School of Industrial Engineering and Management ETS will be present at the XXXI AIDI “Francesco Turco” Summer School, organised by Politecnico di Milano jointly with AIDI — the Italian Association of Industrial Plant Engineering Professors — under the theme “Innovating Methods and Connecting Expertise to address Science and Industry Challenges”.

Prof. Giovanni Mummolo, President of the Foundation, has been invited to deliver a keynote address on Day 2 of the School, titled “European Trends in Higher Education in Industrial Engineering and Management”. The talk will address the growing knowledge gap between the pace of innovation in production systems and the pace of innovation in academic and vocational higher education, a gap that the increasing adoption of AI in the workplace risks widening further. Building on the Knowledge Strategy set forth by the European Commission, Prof. Mummolo will explore how a renewed “University-Industry” knowledge alliance can equip Europe’s human capital to face the digital and green transitions, positioning the innovation of higher education as a strategic driver for the continent’s competitiveness.

The keynote session will be held alongside a second keynote by Prof. Marco Taisch (Politecnico di Milano), “Those who produce, rule. Why Research is becoming a key act in the political geoeconomics”, within a program that also includes an industrial round table with ANIMP, company visits, business games, and teaching seminars.

Now in its 31st edition, the AIDI Summer School is an annual initiative dedicated to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the Industrial Systems Engineering community, bringing together young researchers, scholars, and professionals from academia and industry.
